Loader Maintenance In Winter

May 23, 2024

Winter is the most difficult period to operate a loader. Cold and snowfall will make the construction environment harsh, and the probability of failure is also one of the highest periods. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain our loaders well in winter.

Antifreeze is basically needed when operating a loader in winter, so choosing a good antifreeze is a crucial thing. First of all, when selecting, pay attention to the boiling point and minimum cold resistance of the antifreeze. It is best to have a boiling point of 105° , the cold resistance can reach about -50°. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the anti-corrosion, anti-rust, and anti-scaling properties of the antifreeze. Every time you replace the antifreeze, you must first clean the scale and rusty parts. It is best not to mix different types of antifreeze and must be operated according to regulations. Antifreeze should be replaced at least once a year, and the frequency of replacement depends on the working environment and work intensity. In addition, the fuel should also choose more cold-resistant diesel or fuel according to the temperature.

Before each work, you can pour warm or hot water to preheat. Do not pour boiling water directly. When it fails to start, it cannot be started continuously. It must wait for a certain period of time to warm up before starting.

When the temperature is below zero, water should be drained from the water tank, engine, cooler, oil-water separator and other parts that store cooling water to prevent freezing or cracking! Then park the loader indoors in a warm environment. If it can only be parked outdoors, remember to remove the battery.

When the loader is parked for a long time, it is best to start the engine and run it for a period of time every half a month, and then replenish the battery with some power. Remember to perform a complete inspection of the loader before winter comes.

Finally, the warmth of the loader is also essential. You can cover the areas where the loader needs to be kept warm, but don't forget that you and your family also need to stay warm.
